When we think of firefighters, courage immediately comes to mind. But did you know that women have been serving as firefighters for over 200 years? While still underrepresented, women have left an undeniable mark on this demanding profession, proving that bravery has no gender.
The first known woman firefighter in the United States, Molly Williams, fought fires in New York City in the early 1800s. Despite the challenges of her time, she stood side by side with men, pulling heavy equipment through snow and flames. Since then, countless women have followed in her footsteps, battling blazes, rescuing lives, and reshaping perceptions of what strength looks like.
Today, women firefighters serve around the world—not only fighting fires but also leading, training, and mentoring future generations. They show us that strength is not just physical; it’s the ability to face fear, to protect others, and to keep going when the work is hardest.
At Squeem, we are inspired by women who break barriers and redefine what’s possible. Just as shapewear has evolved to reflect confidence and individuality, so too have women firefighters evolved their place in history—proving that determination can overcome tradition.
